The B52's welcomed Guildford Smoke to Bracknell for the first
time in a while and the first of back to back games. With a ref not
turning up, Dave Nutt was good enough to stand in, so many thanks to
him or we wouldn't of had a game at all!

The Smoke started well, with an initial flurry of activity around the B52 net, forcing Munson
to make a couple of early saves and ensuring that everyone was awake! However, Bracknell
regained thier composure and started to apply some pressure of their own, resulting in a drive
from the blueline by Tom Revans, which was heading comfortably wide before hitting a defender
on the foot and flying into the bottom corner to give Bracknell a 1-0 lead at 3:33. The B52's kept the
pressure on, with Barringer missing a good chance and Wybrott testing the metalwork and netminder.
Guildford were always in the game however and at 14:21 they would tie it up when Webb scored off a speculative
long shot past the suprised looking Munson. Webb would strike again with just 25 seconds left in the period, beating
Munson 5-hole to give Guildford a 2-1 lead at the break.

Guildford thought they had extended their lead early in the second, but the ref didn't see the puck go in the net and the B52's
would equalise shortly afterwards, through Nicholson at 24:58 and Downs would put Bracknell 3-2 up at 26:53 with a blast from out wide. At 29:36 Smoke tied the game up with a scrambled goal after tenacious play by Smith, before the B52's and Downs in
particular hit a purple patch, scoring twice 35 seconds apart to make it 5-3. A powerplay for the B52's gave them a chance to
press home their advantage, but ended up giving a 2 on 1 to Guildford and Pring made no mistake, firing in off the near post to make it 5-4 Bracknell at the end of the second.

The third period was much the same as the first two, end to end stuff with both teams creating chances and Wybrott hitting
the pipework. Griffiths equalised for Guildford at 44:24, looping a nice shot over Munson's shoulder into the top corner
and Webb completed the comeback, scoring into an open net after a scramble. Guildford would hold on to win
6-5, in a hard fought game in which the B52's will probably rue their missed chances.
