The 3rd period again enjoying some good end to end hockey
with the Scorpions still creating some good scoring chances were
not going to cut short their workrate, determined to find the net. Good
hustling from Ian (sponge) Shambrook , Steve Brown and Dave Welham went
unrewarded as they continued to hold their own throughout the game.

The legs of the Scorpions no doubt aching as the final period picked up.The Scorpions still doing
all they could to contain the efforts of the B52s but just couldn’t clear the zone and allowed further
shots to rain down on Loveday in the Scorpions goal, who was still as determined to stop everything
fired at him. For the first 10min of the 3rd the Scorpions again kept the B52s at bay as they again dug into their
reserves to hold out and defend their end. Shots coming in from close range which at one point left Nicholson again
in a clear position to score from a well placed pass from Barringer, only to see Nicholson backhand the puck well wide
of the open goal.

Then with one final effort the B52s worked the puck well to create yet more scoring chances which this time were to find the back
of the net as Mark Hopkins took a well taken wrist shot, ably assisted by the hardworking Stanford at 50:28. Then at 52:35 Nicholson
fired in a slap shot which again was well blocked by Loveday, but the rebound falling nicely to the relentless Aaron Barringer who had
spent so much of the game creating the scoring chances for his team, this time finding the back of the net himself. Then with 2 more goals,
one from Hopkins who fired in a shot from the blueline at 53:31 assisted by Neil Porter and the final goal at 54:02 from Russ Harman, a well taken
shot assisted by Stanford. The game finishing with a 10 – 1 result in favour of the Bracknell B52s.

A good team effort from the B52s but the result undermines the great efforts of the Slough Scorpions who were committed to the very end and put on
a great effort which the scoreline did not reflect.
