Well it's been, erm, a challenging year on the ice
for us this year. After winning three of our first four
games, including beating the Basingstoke Hyenas twice,
I think it's fair to say that the wheels fell off and we spent the rest
of the 'season' ploughing new depths, ending in a record of 3-12-1.
Looking back it was a failure to score enough goals that really hurt us, netting
only twice or less in eight of the games and three in another two. That even
included a shutout in one game, mind you that was due to an outstanding performance
by the opposition netminder.
Anyhow, the late addition of the stats for the second Navy game was a boon for many as the
eight goals scored was the second highest all season and was the only game where some people
scored points. Below are my scoring awards for the year, I'm sure most of you have seen the stats on the
web, but kudos to those that won....you can live a proud life knowing that you've achieved something.
Top Points Scorer - 1st - Andy Downs - 24 pts It will come as a surprise to many that Downsey won
2nd - Roger Sheppard - 20 pts again.....oh ok it won't. It's like a thousand years in a row he's
3rd - Tony Nicholson - 12 pts won, although Shep did come fairly close this year.
Top Goal Scorer - 1st - Andy Downs - 16 Well done to Downsey, it could have been Andy Korpela who was on
2nd - Roger Sheppard - 10 a similar goal scoring pace. If only he had turned up for more than
3rd - Tony Nicholson - 7 two games and scored an additional 15 goals....
